Why is Ukulele Easier to Learn?
Before buying Ukulele, you must understand the tiny bits and details of it, because it is going to be helpful to your someday, and also you got to tell others why you picked up this certain Ukulele.. right?
Even for the smallest details such as frets, saddle, and shape of your Ukulele, Have a small understanding to choose the best one for you.
Surprisingly, we have a solution to make you learn this even quicker. Here is a video from Sayali Tank, talking of everything you need to know about Ukulele in a single video.
Types of Ukulele
This is how roughly we can classify the different ukulele’s based on their shape and size. The common ones are soprano (standard ukulele), concert, tenor, and baritone.
With this increasing sizes of Ukulele, the sound accompanies a gradual lowering of sound because of less resonance space in it.
So small ukulele’s has higher sounds, and bigger ukuleles have lowered sounds.
Hence, Baritone ukuleles are preferred to make bass sounds in music. In fact, they resemble more similar to a guitar. In case you are looking for a guitar, do head over to our best beginner’s guitar guide. The Soprano is the smallest in size, with almost 12-15 frets. With higher frets of 15-20 comes Concert type ukulele, Tenor with 12-25 frets, and finally Baritone ukulele with 18 or more frets.
Which is the Best Ukulele for me?
Choosing the right ukulele is important for better playability & feeling comfortable while holding the ukulele. This the same advice we give while buying guitars.
It would be great if you can go in the market, or ask friends to get the feel & size of the ukulele in hand to understand the right one for you.If you closely notice, the size of the frets is smaller on the Soprano compared to the larger Concert or Tenor types.
Hence Soprano is better for small/normal finger-sized people…and Concert or Tensor for the rest.

Subhashree says
Hello!
I’ve been wanting to buy a ukulele but I didn’t know which one to buy…….And this was very very helpful. 🙂 Thank you
but I have a small doubt..so few of the above-mentioned ukuleles have kind of a bad review and some have both good and bad review on Amazon. Soo here’s my question: what should I do? I mean are those comments true or should I just go ahead and buy them?!!
Sreekant Shenoy says
Hey Subhashree,
Amazon reviews don’t matter actually. It is not always that people after buying a product would take time to give feedback/review on Amazon. If you can visit a local store that would solve your matter.
Sonali says
I’m really confused here between 1st and 3rd ( Juarez Concert Size and Kadence Soprano Size). I don’t have an option to go to a store and buy them offline.
Also there are a lot of mixed reviews on Amazon for these two. I am equally convinced by both of them.
Please help me out!
Sreekant Shenoy says
Hi Sonali,
I would suggest picking up Juarez concert-sized Ukulele. Althought You won’t notice big difference in sounds, still — Juarez will have stronger treble and Kadence with base warm sounds. Both are equally good too.
Good luck!
Manoj says
Which one to choose for a 6 year old and 3.5 feet kid.?
Sreekant Shenoy says
Hi Manoj,
This is interesting since I haven’t seen 6 year old with ukuleles. First, make sure he/she is interested in learning it. The Soparano ukulele would be the best, and I would personally not recommend you to invest too much at the first. Just give him the feel of ukulele sounds and playing, and you can upgrade to a better one later on.
Good luck!
Surya says
I want to gift my friend a ukulele, she already plays guitar and she is a singer, do i get any suggestion as to which one to gift her?
Sreekant Shenoy says
Hey Surya,
I am glad you asked me this question. Ukulele is a perfect gifting option to those who loves to play with sounds.
If you are on the budget of 6-7k – Kala MK-TE Tenor Ukulele, or 2-3k – Juarez JRZ23UK will be best.
Kavea says
Hi!
Great job of collating these. If I’m gifting someone who’s a beginner but plays guitar, which one should I choose?
Among the concert ones, which is the best?
My budget is 5-7 k.

Sreekant Shenoy says
